What is the European Collegiate Tennis Association?

The European Collegiate Tennis Association (ECTA) was formed in 2007 by Head Tennis Coaches, Jamie Pilkington (Dublin City University, Ireland) and Euan McGinn (University of Stirling, Scotland) with the intention of providing European University tennis players opportunities to compete both in a team and in an individual environment across Europe. To achieve this objective, ECTA wants to increase the number of appropriate opportunities tennis players have to participate in Europe. ECTA is a registered non profit organisation.

Competition

Since 2007 ECTA has organized and sanctioned several events across Europe such as the first ever European University Men’s Tennis League in 2007 and 2008 and the ECTA European Women’s University Challenge which is to become the ECTA European Women’s league in 2009. Along with the Men’s and Women’s University Leagues there are also plans to have a European University Singles Clay Court Championship. This event is to become one of the main selection criteria for the European University Squad which is scheduled to play against the US Collegiate Team in 2010.
